SPEECH OF REPUBLIC DAY
Good morning to one and
all.
First
of all I wish you all a Happy Republic Day. It is an important day for us
Indians as we celebrate the democracy and the formation of the constitution of
Republic India by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar which came into effect on this day that is
26th January, 1950. This day ensured the fundamental rights of every
citizen of this country such as equality, freedom, religion, education etc.
This is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to unity in diversity,
fraternity and equality among all the citizens.
In
India we have lived with diverse culture, religion, traditions, languages,
festivals for centuries and still we have formed a strong nation and this day
is the celebration of our spirit of unity despite such wide range of diversity.
Many foreign rules tried to divide us but their efforts have failed due to our
strong cultural background and moral values. We fought against any foreign
invasion with unity and could regain our freedom in 1947. Let us remember and
bow our heads down in the memory of thousands of freedom fighters and great
leaders whose hardships and sacrifices resulted in the freedom we enjoy today.
This
day is celebrated by people in different ways like some celebrate it by
recalling the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, some attend the flag hoisting
ceremony, and many watch the republic day parade on TV where our military
powers and arm forces are exhibited, medals are bestowed on the brave officers
and civilians. Many schools and colleges arrange special cultural programmes
like dance, singing, drama, fancy day competition based on the theme of
patriotism. This day fills our heart with the spirit of patriotism.
Along
with the celebration, this day also reminds us of our duties towards our
nation. We must fulfil our duties as citizens of this nation towards building a
powerful country which reaches to the summit of progress. Along with enjoying
our rights of democracy, it is our duty to help the government in taking this
country in the direction of health, prosperity and development. Together we can
make our country the most powerful and fulfil the dreams of our freedom
fighters and great leaders. We should remember their sacrifices and strive hard
to create a dream India where everyone enjoys equal rights, equal opportunities
to progress and together we can achieve this goal. So let us all take a pledge
today to work hard towards building a strong nation, make sincere efforts to
retain our freedom and spirit of unity and fraternity to take our country on
the path of success and progress.
Thank
you all. Jai Hind.
