1.      Who is Nathu?

Nathu is a Sweeper Boy in the Pipalnagar Bank owned by Seth Govind Ram.

2.      Who is Sitaram?

Sitaram is a washerman’s son and friend of Nathu lived in Pipalnagar.

3.      What does Sitaram tell Mrs Srivatsava?

Sitaram said to the Mrs Srivatsava who is in need of a sweeper that “ I know of a sweeper boy who’s looking for work. He can start from the next month. He is with the bank just now but they aren’t giving him his pay, and he wants to leave.

4.      Mrs Srivasava says, 'I heard a complaint from their sweeper.' Was it a correct understanding of what the sweeper had said?

No, it is not a correct understanding of what the sweeper had said.

5.      How does Mrs Bhushan interpret Mrs Srivastava's statement?

Mrs. Bhushan misinterprets Mrs Srivastava’s statement as “Shocking!”  She remarked ‘If they can’t pay the sweeper they must be in a bad way. None of the others could be getting paid either.’

6.      Why does Mr Kishore speak to Deep Chand?

Mr. Kamal Kishor is a neighbor of Deep Chand the owner of Barber Shop and he got the news about the Pipalnagar bank and his neighbor has an account in it. So he speaks to Deep Chand.

7.      Why does the elderly gentleman rush to the general merchant's store? According to him what had Seth Govind Ram done?

Because of the awful news the elderly gentleman just have heard he quickly rush towards the merchant’s store with one side of neck unshaven to make a phone call to the owner of the bank Seth Govind Ram. But he didn’t found him on call and learn he is holidaying in Kashmir.

8.      How does the rumor spread from the photographer's shop?

The news spread through the bazaar with the rapidity of forest fire. From the general merchant’s it travelled to the shop, circulated amongst the customers, and then spread with them in various directions, to the betel seller, the tailors, the free vendor, the jeweler, the beggar sitting on the pavement.

9.      What is interesting about the beggar?

Old Ganpath, the begger known for his crooked leg who has never been known to walk learning the news about the bank collapse, astonished everyone by leaping to his feet and actually running the top speed in the direction of the bank. And it soon becomes known that he had a thousand rupees in savings.

10.  How does the manager try to handle the angry customers?

The manager stood at the door and tried to replicate the angry crowd and tried to convince them that the bank has plenty of money but no immediate means of collecting it. He urged them to go home and come back to the next day.

11.  What do people imagine about Seth Govind Ram?

The Seth had fled the State, said one. He had fled the country, said another. He was hiding in Pipalnanagr, said a third. He hanged himself from the tamarind tree, said a fourth, and had been found that morning by the sweeper boy. One old customer of Deep Chand had also said that “The Bird has flown”.

12.  Who or what really breaks the bank?

The Gossip and Misinterpretation cause by Mrs. Srivastva and Mrs. Bhushan really breaks the bank and people’s reaction and misinterpretation lead it to majorly.
