Idioms:

1.       The Best of the both worlds: enjoy the benefits  of two different opportunities at the same time

2.       See eye to eye: agree with someone

3.       Once in a blue moon: an event that happens rarely

4.       To Coast an arm and a leg: is very expensive

5.       Piece of cake: is very easy

6.       Kill two birds with one stone: solve two problems at once

7.       Add insult to injury: make situation worse

8.       Let the cat out of the bag: accidently reveal secret

9.       Hit the nail on the head: describe exactly what is causing a situation or problem.

10.   A hot potato: an issue which many people are talking about and is very disputed

Examples:

1.       The Best of Both Worlds: She works from home, so she gets to spend time with her kids while maintaining her career. It's like having the best of both worlds.

 

2.       See Eye to Eye: Sarah and John see eye to eye on most issues, which is why they make such a great team.

 

3.       Once in a Blue Moon: Going to the movies is a rare treat for us; we only do it once in a blue moon.

 

4.       Cost an Arm and a Leg: That designer handbag may look nice, but it costs an arm and a leg, and I can't afford it.

 

5.       Piece of Cake: Don't worry about the test; it's a piece of cake. You'll do great!

 

6.       Kill Two Birds with One Stone: By carpooling to work, you save money on gas and reduce your carbon footprint. It's like killing two birds with one stone.

 

7.       Add Insult to Injury: Not only did he lose his job, but then they criticized his work in front of everyone. They really added insult to injury.

 

8.       Let the Cat out of the Bag: Sarah accidentally let the cat out of the bag about the surprise party we were planning for John.

 

9.       Hit the Nail on the Head: His analysis of the economic crisis hit the nail on the head; he identified the key issues causing the downturn.

 

10.   A Hot Potato: The debate over healthcare reform is a real hot potato in this election, with strong opinions on both sides.
