Discuss these questions in pairs and answer them briefly.

1. What exactly is honesty?

2. How does it differ from integrity?

3. Is honesty inborn or learnt over the course of time?

4. Do honest people suffer more often than dishonest people? Why or why not?

5. Given a choice, why do we prefer to deal with honest people, not only in th workplace but also in other areas of our lives?


Ans: 


1. Honesty is the quality of being truthful and straightforward in one's words, actions, and intentions, without deceit, fraud, or dishonesty.


2. Integrity is closely related to honesty but encompasses a broader concept of moral uprightness and consistency in one's values and principles. Honesty is often seen as a specific aspect of integrity.


3. Honesty is typically learned over time through socialization, upbringing, and personal experiences. While some individuals may have a natural inclination towards honesty, it is generally a trait that is developed and reinforced.


4. Whether honest people suffer more than dishonest people can vary depending on the circumstances. Honesty can lead to short-term challenges or setbacks, but it often results in long-term trust, respect, and personal integrity, which can lead to more positive outcomes.


5. We prefer to deal with honest people because they are seen as trustworthy, reliable, and transparent in their actions and communication. This fosters a sense of security, promotes open communication, and minimizes the risk of deception or betrayal, both in the workplace and other areas of our lives.
