A. Complete the dialogue

(Sahil Khan meets Rajesh Jain, who has recently moved in as his neighbour.)

Sahil Khan: Good morning, Mr Jain. How are you?
Rajesh Jain: Very well, thank you. How are you, Mr Khan?
Sahil Khan: I'm fine, thank you. We're happy to have you as our neighbour. Do come home sometime.
Rajesh Jain: We certainly will. Thank you very much. See you then.
Sahil Khan: Goodbye, Mr Jain.


B. Choose the suitable informal expressions

(Manju meets her friend Parvati after school, and they walk home together.)

Manju: Hi, Parvati! Are you in the play for Parent's Day?
Parvati: Hi, Manju! No, our class is presenting a group song. It's a Gujarati folk song.
Manju: Wonderful! I'm glad. You have a great voice.
Parvati: Thanks. What's your class doing?
Manju: We're doing Bhima and Bakasura. I'm Kunti.
Parvati: Then you'll have to wear a sari, won't you?
Manju: Yes. I hope I can manage that.
Parvati: Oh, I'm sure you will. Don't worry.
Manju: Thanks. Bye, Parvati.
Parvati: Bye.


C. Dialogue (Mr Kumar meets Ms Baweja)

Mr Kumar: Good morning, Ms Baweja.
Ms Baweja: Good morning, Mr Kumar. How is Kiran now?
Mr Kumar: He’s much better, thank you. But the doctor has advised him to rest for a week.
Ms Baweja: Oh, I see. I hope he gets well soon.
Mr Kumar: Thank you very much, Ms Baweja.
Ms Baweja: You’re welcome. Goodbye, Mr Kumar.
Mr Kumar: Goodbye, Ms Baweja.


D. Dialogue (Radha and Lata about the wedding)

Lata: Hi, Radha! Come in. I was hoping you’d come today.
Radha: Hi! I came to ask you what you’ll be wearing for your brother’s wedding.
Lata: I’ll be wearing a new red skirt with a green blouse. And what are you wearing, Radha?
Radha: I’ll be wearing the blue sari I got for my sister’s wedding.
Lata: How lovely! That’s such a beautiful sari. We’ll have a great time together.
Radha: Yes, we will.

E.1 Dialogue (Office Day)

A: Good evening!
B: Good evening! How are you?
A: I’m fine, thank you. Tell me, what happened in the office today? I was on leave.
B: Nothing much. It was a quiet day. The Director left for Kolkata.
A: Oh, I see. Thanks for telling me. I’ll be in the office tomorrow.
B: All right. See you then.
A: Goodbye!
B: Goodbye!


E.2 Dialogue (Missed the Party)

A: Hi! How are you?
B: Hi! I’m good, thank you.
A: Tell me, why didn’t you come to my party yesterday?
B: I’m really sorry. I couldn’t make it because some visitors suddenly turned up.
A: Oh, but you could have brought them along!
B: They actually wanted to go shopping.
A: Never mind. I hope you’ll come to the party next week.
B: I certainly will!
A: Great! See you then. Bye!
B: Bye!
